Whistle Stop Park keeps a restored Burlington Route caboose at the edge of Old Town. The Niwot Business Association runs its free summer concert series beside it on Thursday evenings.

Niwot history
The railroad shaped the Niwot we know.
The name
Niwot is named for Chief Niwot of the Southern Arapaho. The name is carried by the creek, the water district and the community.
The grid
The street plan follows the 1875 town plat, laid out along the railroad rather than the county road grid that came later.
The edge
Farmland begins immediately east of the storefronts. The walk from brick to open field takes about four minutes.
